The next day it was up early for the short hop (45 minutes) across to Coober Pedy, the home of Opals in Australia and perhaps the World. There are a couple of million mounds of earth from ground excavations for Opals. It, again, is in the middle of nowhere, but was an amazing place to see from the air! We managed to arrive and check-in to our underground hotel (the only 5* underground hotel in the world!), before taking a tour around the best bits. Most people live in underground houses, and they even have churches underground!
